Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

23rd Ranked Cougars Net Seven in Homecoming Match

Columbia, Mo. – This afternoon the 23rd ranked Columbia College men's soccer team was back on the field when they played host to the Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.) University Lions in the Cougars homecoming match. The Cougars were able to defeat the Lions by a final score of 7-0 to improve to 6-4-1 on the season and 5-0 in the AMC.

The Cougars came out in the first half and were able to get on the board early as they took a 1-0 lead just six minutes into the game. Brett Bales had the goal for Columbia as he was able to finish off a pass from Juan Pablo Agredo for his first tally of the season to give the Cougars a 1-0 lead. Columbia College was able to add to their lead just four minutes later when Ximo Gil finished off a pass from Pere Adrian Severa for his third tally of the season to give the Cougars a 2-0 advantage. Adam Du Toit added a third goal for the Cougars less than a minute later and the score remained 3-0 heading into the halftime break. Columbia College outshot Freed-Hardeman 8-3 in the half.

The Cougars came out in the second half and were able to extend their lead to 4-0 just nine minutes into the period. Brendan Mann had the goal for Columbia as he received a ball from Ximo Gil off of a corner kick and was able to settle it onto his right foot before knocking it past the Lions keeper for his first goal of the season. The Cougars picked up an own goal from the Lions with 27 minutes left to play and then a goal from Juan Pablo Agredo off of an assist from Adam Du Toit a minute later gave Columbia a 6-0 lead midway through the half. Anthony Sobolevsky had the final goal for the Cougars off of an assist from Logan Mangrum and Columbia College was able to close out the game to remain unbeaten in conference play.

Ryan Harrisskitt (5-1-1) was in goal today for the Cougars, recording two saves in his fifth solo shutout of the season.

The men's soccer team is back in action on Tuesday, October 9th when they travel to Belleville, Illinois, to take on the Lindenwood University-Belleville (Ill.) Lynx in an AMC matchup. The game is set to start at 4:30 p.m.
