Columbia, Mo. – The NAIA national office announced today the sixth NAIA Division I Men's Basketball Coaches' Top 25 Poll for the 2017-18 season. The Cougars remained fifth in the latest poll after going 3-1 since the last poll was released on February 13th.
Columbia College finished the regular season with a 27-3 record on the year and 19-3 record in AMC play which was good enough to earn them their 14th overall conference regular season title. With the first place finish, the Cougars have solidified the number one seed in the AMC Championships and will be making their eighth straight appearance in the NAIA Division I Men's Basketball National Championships.
As a team, they finished the season ranked in the top 10 nationally in five different statistical categories. They rank third in the NAIA in 3-point field goal percentage (0.414), eighth in scoring margin (14.200), ninth in assist/turnover ratio (1.323), and 10th in both turnover margin (2.967) and defensive rebounds per game (29.567). Offensively, they are led by Nathan Biggs who is averaging a team high 14.70 points per game and is shooting a team best 58.8 percent from the floor.
The Cougars will be back in action on Wednesday, February 28th when they play host to the Lyon (Ark.) College Scots in their AMC Quarterfinal matchup. The game is set to start at 7 p.m. in the Southwell Athletic Complex.
