Walnut Ridge, Ark. – This afternoon the second ranked Columbia College softball team was back in action when they traveled to Walnut Ridge, Arkansas, to take on the Williams Baptist (Ark.) Columbia College got off to a slow start in this one as they allowed the Eagles to score one run in the bottom of the second and one run in the bottom of the third to jump out to an early 2-0 lead. The Cougars had a tough time getting anything going through the first few innings of the game but were able to pick it up in the fourth as they brought two runs across the plate to tie the game at two. Columbia College continued to hit the ball well in the fifth inning and were able to score four runs in the frame thanks to back-to-back-to-back homeruns from Alexandra Linck, Allyson Metz, and Karli Leeper to solidify their 10th win of the season.

Kaitlyn Nottelmann (2-1) got the start in this one as she allowed five hits and two earned runs while striking out one in 2.1 innings of work. Lexi Dickerson (3-2) came in to relieve Nottelmann in the third and allowed five hits while striking out three batters in 4.2 scoreless innings. In the second game of the doubleheader, the Cougars put together 11 hits in the 4-2 win. Columbia College got off to a quick start in this one as they scored one run in the top of the first and one run in the top of the second to jump out to an early 2-0 lead. Molly Carter added to the Cougars lead in the top of the third when she hit a two-run homerun to extend Columbia's lead to 4-0 heading into the bottom half of the innings. The Eagles did their best to get back into the game and were able to score two runs in the bottom of the fifth to cut the lead to 4-2 but that was as close as they would get as the Cougars closed them out down the stretch to solidify the two game sweep.

Molly Carter (4-1) was in the circle for this one as she allowed nine hits and two earned runs while striking out two batters in her third complete game of the season. Carter also led the way offensively as she went 1-4 with two RBI's and a run scored. To go along with Carter, Alexandra Linck went 1-4 with an RBI and Karli Leeper went 3-3 with a run scored.
