Davenport, Iowa – This afternoon the Columbia College men's lacrosse team was back in action when they traveled to Davenport, Iowa, to take on the St. Ambrose University Fighting Bees in a KCAC matchup for the last regular season game. The Cougars fell in overtime by a score of 11-10 to move to 6-9 on the season.
After the first quarter the Cougars found themselves trailing 4-1. In the second they were looking to attack and chip back into the game. Their strategy worked as they were able to cut the lead down to one as they headed into the halftime break trailing 6-5. In the third, the Cougars were able to score three goals and hold the Bees to just two, which would make the game tied at eight with one quarter remaining. In a tight fourth quarter, each team scored two goals ending regulation with a score of 10-10. After a long battle, Columbia fell in overtime to the Bees as the game ended 11-10.
For the Cougars, Cooper Heck recorded four goals, while Sam Crum had three. In addition, Jeremiah Lerch chipped in two goals, while Kellen Brechbill had one as well. Riley McDermott was in goal as he recorded 26 saves this afternoon.
