Columbia Falls to Ravens

Columbia, Mo. – This evening the 18th ranked Columbia College women's soccer team was back in action when they traveled to Atchison, Kansas to face the Benedictine College Ravens in a nonconference matchup. The Cougars dropped to the Ravens 4-0, moving to 4-3 on the season.

The Cougars struggled to get things going as their defense was being tested right from the start. Kate Marshall would come up with two saves just minutes into the game. About 15 minutes into the half, the Ravens found the net first, taking a 1-0 lead. Columbia was looking to answer back, but sailed one wide. The Ravens would strike again before the break as they headed one in the goal to go up 2-0. Marshall tallied five saves in the half while the Cougars were outshot 11-1.

In the second half, Columbia was looking to steal some Raven momentum, but just could not get things to click in their favor. The Ravens would snag two more goals as the Cougars trailed 4-0. Columbia continued to battle, but were unable to overcome Benedictine. The Cougars fell 4-0.

Kate Marshall was in goal this evening as she recorded nine saves in the contest.

The women's soccer team is back in action on Tuesday, September 18th when they travel to Stephens (Mo.) College to take on the Stars in an AMC matchup. The game is set to kickoff at 7 p.m.
