Columbia, Mo. – This afternoon the NAIA national office announced the fourth Women's Soccer Coaches' Top 25 Poll of the 2018 season. The Columbia College women's soccer team, who ranked 21st in the last poll, stayed at 21 after going 2-0 since the last poll was released. The two wins included a 5-0 win over Stephens (Mo.) College in the programs 100th victory and a 2-0 win over Lyon (Ark.) College.
The Cougars have started the season with a 6-3 overall record and 4-0 mark in conference play. They currently rank third in the NAIA in total shutouts (6.000), 20th in total assists (19), and in the top 50 in both shots per game (18.560) and total goals (21). They are led by Molly Klein who ranks 15th in the NAIA in total assists (6), 23rd in total points (20.000), and 39th in total goals (7). In addition to Klein, Kelsey Mirts is second on the team in points with 10 on the season as she currently has five goals on the year. Kate Marshall, the reigning AMC Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week, has been solid in goal this season for the Cougars as she leads the team with 35 saves and has posted a team high four solo shutouts.
The women's soccer team is back in action on Friday, September 28th when they play host to the Hannibal-LaGrange (Mo.) University Trojans in an AMC matchup. The game is set to start at 4:30 p.m. on R. Marvin Owen's Field.
