Box Score Marshall, Mo. – This evening the 15th ranked Columbia College women's soccer team was back in action when they traveled to Marshall, Missouri to take on the Missouri Valley College Vikings in a nonconference matchup. The Cougars defeated the Vikings by a score of 2-0 and improved to 2-2 on the season.
The Cougars were seeking their second win of the season as the game began against the Vikings. In the first half, each team battled but neither side was able to find the back of the net. As each team had some chances in the half, neither side could execute as they headed into halftime scoreless.
Starting the second half, each team was looking to be the first to get on the board. The Cougars would break the silence as Samantha Bassler was able to connect with Molly Klein to knock one in taking the lead 1-0 with just under 32 minutes to play. Less than two minutes later, Molly Klein would put what would be the nail in the coffin as she hit the back of the net on a pass from Allison Floyd making it 2-0 Cougars. In the final 30 minutes the Cougars were able to hold off the Vikings to secure a 2-0 victory and their second win of the season.
Kate Marshall was in goal today for the Cougars recording six saves in the contest.
The women's soccer team is back in action on Tuesday, September 11th when they host the Central Baptist (Ark.) College Mustangs in an AMC matchup. The game is set to start at 4:30 p.m.
