Cougars Rank Second in Latest Poll

Columbia, Mo. – The NAIA national office has announced the second NAIA Division I Women's Basketball Coaches' Top 25 Poll of the 2018-19 regular season. The Cougars, who were ranked fourth in the last poll, moved up two spots to number two after going 2-1 since the last poll was released. This is the highest ranking for the women's basketball team in program history.

The Cougars, who have started the season with a 10-2 record, have been playing great basketball all season long. They currently rank 17th in the NAIA in scoring defense/game (58.091), 21st in turnover margin (5.273), 22nd in 3-point field goal percentage (0.336), 22nd in scoring margin (15.818), 23rd in assist/turnover ratio (0.987), and 24th in blocks/game (3.455). They also rank in the top 50 nationally in total blocks (38), field goal percentage (0.421), total steals (114), and 3-point field goals made (79).

Columbia College is led by Morgan Brandt who leads the team in points/game (11.91), rebounds/game (8.27), and steals/game (2.18). She currently ranks 16th in the NAIA in defensive rebounds/game (6.182), 33rd in total rebounds/game (8.27), 39th in free throw percentage (0.811), and 47th in total rebounds (91).

The women's basketball team is back in action on Thursday, January 3rd when they travel to Conway, Arkansas, to take on the Central Baptist (Ark.) College Mustangs in a nonconference matchup. The game is set to start at 5:30 p.m.
