Box Score St. Louis, Mo. – The Columbia College women's soccer traveled and competed against Harris-Stowe University in an AMC matchup this afternoon. The Cougars defeated the Hornets 6-1 and improve to 11-3 and 8-0 in conference play.
The Cougars came out aggressive to control the ball early in the half. Within the first five minutes of play,
Molly Klein got the Cougars on the board first when she netted the ball off a pass from
Kelsey Mirts. Columbia quickly added another goal when Mirts passed the ball off to
Jewel Morelan at the 19
th minute. A foul by the Hornets in the box caused a penalty kick and
Emma Laney gave the Cougars their third goal. Harris-Stowe's Yuliana Noyola Miranda was able to find the back of the net at the 26
th minute mark to give the Hornets what would be their lone goal of the game. Morelan netted the Cougars fourth goal off assists from Mirts and
Lucy Kingsley, giving Columbia the 4-1 lead entering the half.
The Cougars continued their offensive ways, adding their fifth goal, kicked in by Kingsley from Schneider in the 69
th minute.
Reese Hamilton finalized the scoring by adding the sixth goal off an assist by
Ellie Hilton (83
rd minute).
Kate Marshall was in goal for the Cougars and recorded three saves.
The Columbia College women's soccer team is set to play next on Tuesday, October 22
nd when they play host the St. Louis College of Pharmacy in an AMC contest. The game will kick off at 4:30 p.m. at R. Marvin Owens Field.
