St. Louis, Mo. – This afternoon the American Midwest Conference announced the Player of the Week awards for the week ending on October 21st. For their efforts this past week,
Kiersten Anderson was named the AMC Women's Volleyball Attacker of the Week,
Ellie Rockers was named the AMC Women's Volleyball Defender of the Week, and
Luisa Ferreira was named the AMC Women's Volleyball Setter of the Week.
Anderson, a senior opposite hitter from Springfield, Illinois, led the Cougars to a 5-0 record and hit .347 on the week. She recorded 14 kills and 18 digs in the five-set win over No. 13 Lindsey Wilson (Ky.). She was named MVP of the Columbia College Fall Classic and this is her first-career AMC Volleyball Attacker of the Week award.
Rockers, a freshman outside hitter from Jefferson City, Missouri, averaged 3.5 digs per set in Columbia's five wins. She had 17 digs against Lindsey Wilson, which tied her season-high. This is her first-career AMC Volleyball Defender of the Week award.
Ferreira, a freshman setter from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, dished out 207 assists for a 12.1 assists per set average and recorded a season-high 65 assists in the five-set win over Lindsey Wilson. She was named to the Columbia College Fall Classic All-Tournament Team. She also leads the AMC in both assists per set (11.7) and total assists (1,021). This is her fourth-career AMC Volleyball Setter of the Week award.
