Columbia, Mo. – Tonight the Columbia College men's basketball team played against the Harris-Stowe State University Hornets in their first American Midwest Conference matchup of the season. The Cougars were defeated by the Hornets 83-82, moving them to 3-4 on the year and 0-1 in conference play.
Columbia started off stiff, allowing the Hornets to take an early lead but the Cougars gained momentum midway through the half to go on a 24-6 run. Harris-Stowe pushed back, leaving the halftime score at 34-30 in favor of the Cougars.
During the second half the Cougars and the Hornets had nine lead changes and the score was tied five times. With 01:30 left
Braden Wendel forced a turnover and made a three-pointer to take the lead but Harris-Stowe drained a three of their own and the Cougars were unable to answer, dropping the contest to the visiting Hornets.
