Kansas City, Mo. – The 2019 NAIA Women's Soccer All-America Team was announced on Tuesday. The NAIA All-America Committee, which consists of the NAIA-Women's Soccer Coaches Association officers and seven additional women's soccer coaches, select the three 11-member teams and the honorable mention teams. For their efforts on the field, Columbia's
Kelsey Mirts and
Molly Klein have been recognized as NAIA All-American Honorable Mention.
Mirts, a senior forward from Columbia, Missouri, started in all 23 games for the Cougars. The AMC Player of the Year led the team in goals with 22, shots with 87, and shots on goal with 51. In addition, she ranked fifth in the NAIA with total game winning goals (8), 10
th in game winning goals per game (0.350), 12
th in total points (56.000), 12
th in total goals, 22
nd in total assists (12), 24
th in points per game (2.430), 25
th in goals per game (0.960), 39
th in assists per game (0.520), and 49
th in shots on goal per game (2.220). This is her second career NAIA All-American Honorable Mention selection.
Klein, a senior midfielder from Columbia, Missouri, played in 19 games for the Cougars. She led the team in assists with 11 and is second in shots on goal with 34 and in shots with 58, third in points with 25. Klein ranks nationally in two categories, including 23
rd in assists per game (0.580) and 26
th in total assists. This is her second career NAIA All-American Honorable Mention selection.
In addition, the NAIA announced the 2019 NAIA Women's Soccer Coaches' Top 25 Postseason Poll. The Cougars, who finished their season at the Opening Round with a record of 19-4, wrap up in the 25
th spot on the poll.
