Belleville, Ill. - This evening the Columbia College men's baseball team was back in action as they traveled to Belleville, Illinois to take on the Lindenwood University-Belleville Lynx in an AMC matchup. Columbia topped the Lynx 9-6 in game one of the series. The Cougars are now 7-5 on the season and 3-1 in conference play.
After two innings the Lynx had the early 2-1 lead. The Cougars were able to stir things up in the fourth to take a 3-2 lead. They went on to score three runs in the sixth and two in the seventh to stretch their lead 8-2. In the eighth the Lynx were able to snag three runs, while Columbia added another run to their tally. In the top of the ninth, the Cougars held the Lynx to one run as they closed out the game victorious 9-6.
Chris Wall got the start as he allowed three hits, two earned runs, and struck out four batters in five innings. Josiah Imhoff, Derek Sallee, and Conner Darnell combined for just two hits allowed, three earned runs, and struck out three batters in the remainder of the game. Offensively, Bradley Prebay was 1-5 with three RBIs, Chase Urhahn went 3-5 with one run scored and one RBI, Ethan Howser was 3-5 with two runs scored and one RBI, Dalton Bealmer was 2-5 with two runs scored and one RBI, Nolan Rattai was 1-3 with one run scored and one RBI, and Justin Randle was 2-3 with one run scored and one RBI.
The baseball team is back in action tomorrow, when they take on the Lynx in a doubleheader starting at noon with the second game to follow to wrap up the series.
