Box Score 2 Gulf Shores, Alabama – The fourth ranked Columbia College softball team was back in action today for the second day of the Gulf Shores Invitational in Gulf Shores, Alabama. The Cougars dropped both games to Bethel (Tenn.) University 4-1 and Avila (Mo.) University 3-1. Columbia is now 3-7 on the season.
In the first game against Bethel University, the Wildcats scored three runs in the third to take the lead. The Cougars responded with their own run in the fourth to bring the Wildcats lead down 3-1. Bethel was able to add another run in the sixth, making it a 4-1 game to hand Columbia College the loss.
Molly Carter (1-1) pitched all six innings as she only allowed one earned run while striking out one batter.
Mackenzie Kasarda led the way for the Cougars as she had a hit and a run scored.
In the second game against Avila University, the Cougars were down 3-0 after two innings. Columbia College was only able to score one run as they had a total of three hits in the game.
Lexi Dickerson (1-3) pitched all seven innings as she struck out five batters. Offensively,
Olivia Denslow went 2-2 with one RBI and
Britney Edwards had a hit with one run scored to round up the top performers.
The Cougars are back in action tomorrow when they take on Keiser University at 9:00 a.m. and Central Methodist University at 11:30 a.m. in Gulf Shores.
