Columbia, Mo. – This evening the Columbia College men's baseball team was back in action as they hosted the Missouri Baptist University Spartans in an AMC matchup. Columbia came up short as they fell to the Spartans 3-1. The Cougars are now 14-9 on the season and 9-5 in conference play. 
 
The Cougars were first to get on the board in the second inning taking the lead 1-0. It wasn't until the fifth that the Spartans were able to score to tie the game at one. Missouri Baptist added another run in both the seventh and eighth to take the lead 3-1. The Cougars fought hard to get back in the game, but the Spartans picked up the final outs to hand Columbia College the loss.
 
Chris Wall (2-3) got the start on the mound for the Cougars as he allowed just one earned run and struck out nine batters in seven innings of work. Conner Darnell (3-0) and Josiah Imhoff (2-0) came in to relieve Wall as they allowed a combined one hit while striking out two batters in the final two innings. Offensively, the Cougars were led by Kenny Piper who had a hit with a run scored and Dalton Bealmer who had one RBI.
 
The baseball team is back in action tomorrow as they continue their three game AMC series with the Missouri Baptist University Spartans in a doubleheader. First pitch is set to start at 11 a.m. with the second game to follow.
