Cougars Break in New Field with Back to Back Perfect Games

Columbia, Mo. – The Columbia College softball team hosted the Harris-Stowe State University Hornets in an AMC doubleheader this afternoon. The Cougars had the perfect sweep taking game one 13-0 and game two 21-0. Columbia is now 13-7 on the season and 6-0 in conference play.

In game one the Cougars scored 13 runs off of eight hits in five innings of play. They started off with just one run in the first inning and then went on to tally seven runs in the second and five runs in third. Molly Carter had a two run homer and Natalie Dummitt had a solo homerun in game one of the doubleheader.

Lexi Dickerson pitched a perfect five inning game while striking out eight batters. Offensively, Libby Marko scored three runs and had two RBIs, Olivia Denslow was 2-3 with two runs scored and four RBIs, Molly Carter went 2-3 with two runs scored and three RBIs, Mackenzie Kasarda went 1-3 with one RBI, Natalie Dummitt was 1-2 with one run scored and one RBI, Jacey Meyer was 1-3 with one run scored, Allison Keen was 1-3 with one run scored and one RBI, Avgustina Arbova had one run scored and Karolina Arbova had two runs scored.

Columbia lit it up in the second game scoring six runs in the first inning, five in the second, nine in the third, and one more in the fourth as the game ended in five innings. The Cougars gathered 21 runs on 19 hits throughout the game. Avgustina Arbova hit a three-run homer, along with a solo homerun, while Allison Keen and Mackenzie Kasarda each had two-run shots.

Kaitlyn Nottelmann completed a perfect game while striking out 11 batters in five innings. Offensively, Libby Marko was 2-3 with three runs scored and one RBI, Olivia Denslow was 1-2 with one run scored and one RBI, Reagen Radke was 2-3 with two runs scored, Molly Carter was 2-4 with two runs scored and one RBI, Mackenzie Kasarda was 3-4 with three runs scored and five RBIs, Natalie Dummitt was 2-3 with two runs scored and three RBIs, Jacey Meyer was 2-4 with three runs scored and two RBIs, Allison Keen was 2-2 with two runs scored and three RBIs, Avgustina Arbova was 2-3 with two runs scored and four RBIs, and Elizabeth Schimpf was 1-1 with one run scored.

The Cougars are back in action on Monday, March 25th when they host the William Penn University Statesmen in a doubleheader beginning at 2 p.m.
