Batesville, Ark. - This afternoon, the Columbia College men's baseball team was back in action as they played against the 15^th ranked Lyon College Scots to finish the AMC series. The Cougars fell short against the Scots as they lost 7-6 in extra innings. The Cougars are now 25-19 on the season and 20-9 in conference play.

The Cougars were first to get on the board as they tallied up six runs in the third inning, including a two-run homerun by Dalton Bealmer. The Scots responded in the fifth as they scored their first run of the game. Lyon battled their way back into the game as they added four more in the sixth to drop Columbia's lead, 6-5. The Scots then added one more run in the ninth to tie the game at six and take it to extra innings. Lyon then scored in the bottom of the tenth to hand Columbia the loss.
 
Jacob Ford (2-5) was the starting pitcher as he struck out three batters and only allowed one earned run in five innings of play. Ford was then relieved by Grant Starke (3-1), Lane Threlkeld (1-0), Tanner Beatty, Ethan Howser, and Josiah Imhoff (4-1) and struck out a combined five batters in the final 4.1 innings of play. Offensively, the Cougars were led by Dalton Bealmer who had a hit while scoring a run and two RBI, Kenny Piper who had a hit and two RBI, and Joshua Miller who had a hit while scoring a run and had one RBI to round up the top performers.
 
The baseball team is back in action when they travel to Joplin, Missouri for the AMC Tournament on Tuesday, April 30^th.
