Box Score St. Louis, Mo. – This afternoon the Columbia College men's lacrosse team traveled to St. Louis, Missouri where they were playing against the fifth ranked University of the Cumberlands (Ky.) Patriots in a nonconference game at the neutral site of Missouri Baptist University. The Cougars dropped by a final score of 10-8. Columbia is now 7-2 on the season and 3-0 in conference play.
As the match was underway each team was sticking right with the other as the score was knotted at four after the first quarter. However in the second, the Patriots scored three unanswered goals to take a 7-4 lead at halftime.
The Cougars game out of the break and were able to score two goals in the third quarter, while holding the Patriots scoreless, which cut the lead to one, 7-6, going into the final 15 minutes. In the fourth, Columbia continued to battle and kept themselves in the game, but were outscored 3-2 in the quarter and fell just short of upsetting the fifth ranked Patriots 10-8.
Goals were scored by: Cooper Heck (2), Henry Stauffer (1), Sam Crum (1), JT Huez (1), and Tyler Parrott (3). Trevor Doren and Will Walters had one assist each, while Crum and Parrott each had two apiece.
Ty Hosler was in goal this afternoon as he recorded seven saves in the match.
The lacrosse team is back in action Wednesday, April 10th when they travel to Ottawa, Kansas to take on Ottawa University in a KCAC matchup. The game is set to face off at 7 p.m.
