Columbia, Mo. – The Columbia College athletic department has announced the 2020 baseball schedule for the upcoming season. The Cougars are returning to the field after a very successful 2019 season where they finished second during the conference regular season, made an appearance in the AMC Championship game, made their first ever appearance in the NAIA National Championship Opening Round in program history, and won games over ranked teams during the National Tournament including LSU-Shreveport and Oklahoma City. The Cougars will open their season on Friday, January 31
st when they travel to Joplin, Missouri, to take on Graceland (Iowa) University in a weekend series. The first game is set to start at 2 p.m.
The Cougars will play their home opener on Tuesday, February 25
th when they host the Lincoln (Ill.) College Lynx with first pitch being at 3 p.m.
The Cougars will open AMC play in a weekend series against Williams Baptist (Ark.) College on February 22
nd and February 23
rd. They will travel to Walnut Ridge, Arkansas, to take on the Eagles with single nine inning game set to start at 5 p.m. on Friday and then a doubleheader on Saturday starting at 12 p.m.
Columbia College will also play three opponents ranked in the 2020 NAIA Baseball Coaches' Preseason Poll including a home weekend series against the 21
st ranked Lyon (Ark.) College Scots on Saturday, March 7
th and Sunday, March 10
th. They will also play a mid-week game against 20
th ranked Central Methodist (Mo.) University on Tuesday, March 17
th and then again on Tuesday, April 14
th in Fayette, Missouri. The Cougars will also play a weekend series against the 8
th ranked Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.) University in Henderson, Tennessee, on Friday, March 27
th and Saturday, March 28
th.
The AMC Baseball Championships start on Thursday, April 30
th in Joplin, Missouri, at Joe Becker Stadium.
