Columbia, Mo. – The 15
th ranked Cougar women's basketball team hosted the 10
th ranked Lyon (Ark.) College Scots in an AMC matchup. The Cougars defeated the Scots 75-67 and are now 14-3 on the season and 10-1 in conference.
The Cougars came out aggressive to get on the board first and although the lead changed four times and tied once, Columbia was able to hold onto the lead to finish out the quarter. The Cougars scored ten points more than the Lyons in the second quarter and headed into the half with a score of 37-20.
The Scots came ready for battle in the third quarter, outscoring the Cougars by three points. Lyon continued their aggressive play in the fourth quarter but ultimately the Cougars were able to hold their lead and dealt the Scots their first conference lost.
Key Moment
Raegan Wieser made a key basket that to clench the lead in the first quarter, leading to the Cougars holding control of the score for the remainder of the contest. The Cougar defense also allowed just seven Lyon points in the second quarter.
