Springfield, Mo. – The Columbia College men's basketball team extends its win-streak to three with a 78-65 win against Baptist Bible College. The Cougars improve to 4-1 on the season.
Columbia got off to a slow start, trailing 12-4 with 15:57 left in the first half. Columbia scored the next six-points, capped off by a two-point field goal by
Tony Burks. The Patriots answered with a 6-0 run themselves and held the 18-10 lead with 12:57 left in the first half. The Cougars came back and tied the game up at 29-29 with 1:42 remaining in the opening half, but the Patriots took a 33-32 advantage into the locker room.
The second half was all Columbia, as the Cougars outscored the Patriots, 46-32. The beginning of the half was back-and-forth. Columbia took the lead (39-38) with 17:22 remaining and did not look back. A 6-0 spurt by the Cougars gave them the 45-38 lead with 15:41 left. After the Patriots tied the game at 51-51, Columbia scored nine of the next 10 points to push its lead to eight. A three-point field goal by Baptist Bible closed the game to five points and that's as close as the Patriots would get as Columbia pushed its lead to double-figures and held on for the double-digit win.
