Columbia College Athletics Week of Giving Wrap-Up:
Columbia College raised $8,748 dollars in their annual week of giving, which took place Oct. 4 – 10. A gift this year goes to help support the student-athlete experience by funding facility improvements as well as help keeping the broadcast of home athletic events free for families, friends and alums.
Things we have accomplished in the last year thanks to the support of our Cougar Community have been the ability to renovate both Men's and Women's Basketball locker rooms. Also, renovations were made to the Cougar Indoor Facility and the Arena of Southwell Complex was renovated for safety purposes, by removing seating and adding wall padding. Volleyball graphics were added to the door and hallway in Southwell Complex and at R. Marvin Owens Field, door wraps and mesh banners were added. The press box windows at The Marv were tinted and updates to the streaming technology and the addition of a new streaming camera on the west side of R. Marvin Owens Field were also done.
Plans for the coming year and beyond include continuing to keep the broadcast and webcast free to parents and fans. Scoreboards at R. Marvin Owens Field need to be replaced. Renovation and expansion of the volleyball locker room and the addition of team spaces for Baseball, Cross Country, Lacrosse and Softball are also on the list.
Those who did not have the opportunity to support during the Week of Giving, but would like to contribute can do so at my.ccis.edu/athletics.
