Columbia Upsets 2nd Ranked Indiana Tech

Columbia, Mo- The Men's Lacrosse team played host to the No. 2 ranked Indiana Tech University Warriors this afternoon. The Cougars, sitting just outside the NAIA Top 10 in last weeks ranking, defeated the Warriors by a final score of 12-9 and are now 1-1 on the season.

The Scoring
Q1- (CC) The Cougars came out aggressive within the first minute of play as John Thomas gave the Columbia their first goal. (CC-1, ITU-0)
Q1- (ITU) Indiana Tech's Nate Langille was able to find the back of the net at the five minute mark to tie the game. (CC-1, ITU -1)
Q1- (CC) Columbia's Tyler Parrott, playing against his brother, retaliated two minutes later, when he passed off the ball to Ethan Kirchberg who scored his first collegiate goal. (CC-2, ITU -1)
Q2- (CC) At the 14 minute mark JT Huez created the opening for John Thomas, to get his second goal of the game. A penalty by Indiana Tech gave the Cougars the opportunity for Huez to get the man up goal from Austin King. (CC-4, ITU -1)
Q2- (ITU) A Penalty by Ethan Kirchberg allowed the Warriors the man up, who capitalized at the eighth minute and scored. (CC-4, ITU -2)
Q2- (CC) John Thomas charged the net to get the hat trick (Six minute mark). Two minutes later JT Huez followed his lead to get his second goal of the day. Huez forged the path for Tyler Parrott to get his second goal. A minute later Thomas passed the ball off to Huez who hit his own hat trick. (CC-8, ITU -2)
Q3-(ITU) Indiana came out of the half to start early to bring up their score. (CC-8, ITU-3)
Q3-(CC) Columbia fought to get back to the net with Tyler Parrott for his third goal of the game with five minutes to remain. (CC-9, ITU- 3)

A minute later the Warrior's Sam Anderson found the net. (CC-9, ITU-4).
Q3-(CC) Cooper Heck got his first goal on the season when John Thomas shuffled the ball his way. (CC-10, INIT-5)
Q4-(CC)- Ethan Kirchberg created his own opportunity for his second goal (14 minute mark). Trevor Doren created the chance for JT Huez scored his four goal. (CC-12, ITU-5)

The Warriors found a spark, bringing in four goals straight. (CC- 12, ITU- 9)

Evan Richardson (1-0) was in goal for the Cougars and made 11 saves.
