Columbia Advances to the Semifinals 73-63

Columbia, Mo.- The 15th ranked Cougars took the court tonight as they hosted the Lindenwood University-Belleville Lynx in the AMC Tournament Quarterfinals. The third seeded Cougars defeated the sixth seeded Lynx by a final score of 73-63. The Cougars are now 25-6 on the season.

Prior the game the following Cougars were recognized as members of the AMC All-Academic Team: Grey Hayes, Skyler Beeson, Abigayle Feeney, Allison Stiers, Bria Jones, Mackenzie Dubbert, Geena Stephens, Kamryn Mennemeyer, Mai Nienhueser, Jordan Alford, Clare Shetley, Raegan Wieser, Amber Wright, and Ukari McKinney. Feeney was also named the Champion of Character.

The Cougars came out flying around on defense and clicking on offense as they led 28-11 after the first quarter. Despite the Lynx struggling in the first quarter, they cut the score to 10, 30-20, about midway through the second quarter. The Lynx were able to slow down the Cougars rhythm in the second as the Cougars were held to just eight points. At the half, Columbia led 36-29.

The Cougars regrouped at the break and held the Lynx to nine points in the third as they were up 51-38 heading into the final quarter. Midway through the fourth, Columbia held a nine-point lead. The Lynx fought until the end, but the Cougars remained steady and maintained their separation from the Lynx as they came out victorious 73-63.
