Columbia, Mo. – The WBCA Academic Top 25 recognizes NCAA Division I, II and III, NAIA and two-year GPAs inclusive of all student-athletes on their rosters for the entire season. The 2019-2020 season is the 25th in which the WBCA has compiled the honor rolls.
For the third straight season the Columbia College women's basketball team has earned a spot in the WBCA Top 25 Team Honor Roll, announced earlier this week by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association. The Cougars ranked #22 with a team GPA of 3.535. In addition, Columbia is one of just two squads to earn this award and be ranked in the NAIA Top 25.
The team GPA of 3.535 during the 2019-2020 season is the highest recorded GPA in program history. The Cougars finished the season ranked #15 in the NAIA Coaches' Poll and had their season cut short due to Covid-19.
"The WBCA applauds these head coaches and their teams for their commitment to academic excellence," said WBCA Executive Director Danielle Donehew. " We appreciate and value the hard work and dedication the players and coaches have put forth to thrive in the classroom and on the basketball court."
