St. Louis, Mo. – The American Midwest Conference (AMC) has announced the Player of the Week awards for the week ending on Sunday, October 24.
AMC Women's Volleyball Setter of the Week
Luisa Ferreira
A sophomore from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Ferreira averaged 12.15 assists per set and collected 158 assists over three matches. She was instrumental in the win against (10) Central Methodist dishing out 67 assists in the five-set thriller. She added four blocks to go along with 41 digs and two service aces.
This is her third weekly honor of the season.
AMC Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week
Jewel Morelan
Morelan, a junior from Wentzville, Mo., tallied five goals and two assists on the week, leading the Cougars to a pair of conference wins. She picked up her first hat trick of the season in a 7-0 win over Central Baptist while scoring the game-winning goal in both contests.
This is her second time this season winning the weekly award.
AMC Women's Golfer of the Week
Emily Strunck
Strunck, a junior from Scharbeutz, Germany, finished sixth at the Virginia McCoy Invite with a final score of 165. Her score helped the Cougars to a second-place finish.
This marks the second time Strunk has been named the AMC Women's Golfer of the Week this season.
AMC Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week
Peri Welch
A freshman from Columbia, Mo., Welch ran 18:14.98 at the Mid-States Invite while helping the team to a first-place finish. Her 5K time was good enough for third-place individually.
This is her fourth weekly award of the season.
