Batesville, Ark. – The Columbia College men's basketball team was defeated this afternoon by the Lyon (Ark.) Scots, 56-54. The Cougars are 14-5 on the season and 8-3 in the American Midwest Conference (AMC).
Lyon started the game by taking an early lead against the Cougars. Within the first 10 minutes of play, the lead changed twice and was tied up once. Both teams went point for point, the largest lead the Cougars held over the Scots was six (16-10). Lyon bounced back with a 5-2 run to lead at the break, 21-18.
In the first three minutes of play, Columbia tied the score with a 9-4 run (27-27). The Scots answered back and took the lead at 35-34. The lead changed 12 times and was tied four times. The Cougars trimmed the Scots lead to one with 25-seconds left, but the Scots were able to hold their lead for a victory of 56-54.
