Columbia, Mo. – Columbia advances to the American Midwest Conference (AMC) Women's Basketball Tournament Semifinals with a convincing win over 7-seed Health Sciences & Pharmacy (Mo.). The Cougars improve to 13-4 on the season.
The Cougars got off to another fast start, leading 12-2 after an
Allison Stiers bucket. The Cougars continued their dominance, leading by as much as 16 (21-5) with 32-seconds left in the first quarter. Columbia lead 21-7 at the intermission.
Columbia's defense continued to roll, as they did not all the Eutectics to reach double figures until the 6:57 mark in the second. The Cougars lead reached as much as 20 (35-15) late in the period.
In the third period, UHSP got the deficit down to 18 (41-23) with 6:42 remaining in the quarter, but a field goal by
Bria Jones got the Cougar lead back to the 20-point plateau. The lead did not go under 20-points the rest of the game.
The final quarter was no match. The Cougars held a 35-point advantage a couple times and a three-pointer by
Abby Backes gave the team the 37-point win (78-41).
