Three Earn All-Conference Honors

Batesville, Ark. - The American Midwest Conference (AMC) announced the members of the Women's Basketball All-Conference team and the season awards following tonight's championship game of the AMC Tournament. 

Mallory Shetley was named Freshman of the Year, First-Team All-Conference and found herself on the All-Freshman Team. Sofia Popp was named Co-Newcomer of the Year and Honorable Mention All-Conference, while Geena Stephens was named Second-Team All-Conference and to the All-Defensive Team.

Shetley, a 6-0 freshman from Bourbon, Mo., recorded a career-high of 21 points against Hannibal-LaGrange (Mo.) while averaging 13.7 points a contest. She also grabbed a career-high of 13 rebounds against William Penn (Iowa) this season. Shetley scored 261 total points this season, shooting 43 percent from the field. Shetley becomes the first Cougar to win the award, since Ashlee Marlatt won in 2016. 

Popp, a 5-6 senior out of Saint Peters, Mo., achieved a career-high of 23 points against Williams Baptist (Ark.) this season, averaging 9.9 points per game. She also dished a career-high of six assists against Health Sciences & Pharmacy (Mo.). Popp has tallied 174 points to this point and is shooting 38.8 percent from the field. Popp is the program's first Newcomer of the Year since 2011 (Kayla Rice).

Stephens, a 5-11 senior from Chesterfield, Mo., ranks 40th nationally in steals per game (2.6). She recorded a career-high in steals twice this season with five. Stephens produced a career-best of 22 points against William Penn (Iowa) in the 2020-2021 season. She also brought down a career-high of eight rebounds against Harris-Stowe (Mo.) earlier this season. Stephens has 215 points for the Cougars during the 2020-21 campaign, averaging 11.6 points per game while shooting 51.7 percent.
