Cougars Fall to William Woods

Columbia, Mo. – The Columbia Cougars volleyball team fell in five-sets to William Woods on Saturday afternoon. The Cougars fall to 11-6 overall and 4-2 in the AMC, while William Woods improves to 6-2 overall and 6-0 in the AMC.

Set 1: Columbia 25 | William Woods 16

The two teams split the first 12 points before Columbia scored four-straight to lead 10-6. The Cougars held a comfortable lead the rest of the set, winning 25-16. 

Set 2: Columbia 22 | William Woods 25
The second set saw the Owls jump out to a 9-6 lead, but Columbia was able to tie it at 10-10. The two teams traded point-for-point until William Woods scored eight of the final 13 points to take set two. 

Set 3: Columbia 25 | William Woods 21
CC got out to a quick 5-2 lead in the third set. The Cougars held on to the lead, thanks to three-straight points to increase the lead to 16-10. With Columbia leading 21-14, William Woods tied the set up at 21, tallying seven-straight points, but the Cougars closed out the set with the final four points. 

Set 4: Columbia 22 | William Woods 25 
The Owls led 12-6 early in the fourth set, but five-straight points by Columbia got them to within one point (12-11). The two teams traded points for most of the set until William Woods went on a 6-2 run to end the set. 

Set 5: Columbia 11 | William Woods 15
Columbia scored three of the first four points in the final set, but William Woods scored the next seven to take the 8-3 lead. Columbia battled back to within 10-9, but the Owls went on to tally five of the final seven points to win the match.
