Columbia Claims AMC Regular-Season Championship

Conway, Ark. – The Columbia College baseball team went 2-0 against Central Baptist (Ark.) on Saturday afternoon.

With the wins, the Cougars won the American Midwest Conference (AMC) Regular-Season Title and will be the No. 1-seed in the AMC Baseball tournament next week.

The Scoring Game 1
T1 – Kenny Piper led off the game with his third home run of the series. Jarrett Newell and Kendrick Delima had RBI hits, and a balk scored another run for the Cougars. (CC 5, CBC 0)
B1 – A fielder's choice led to a Mustang run (CC 5, CBC 1)
T2 – Kellen Williamson had an RBI single, and Justin Randle added a two-run home run. (CC 8, CBC 1)
T4 – Brad Prebay, Dalton Bealmer and Williamson scored runs for Columbia. (CC 11, CBC 1)
T6 – The Cougars added seven runs on seven hits, highlighted by two home runs – Kole Ficken (solo) and Dalton Bealmer (two-run home run) (CC 18, CBC 1)

Game 1 Individual Leaders
Mark Haire went five innings on the mound for Columbia, allowing just one earned run on two hits. Tanner Beatty and Jimmy Layton went one inning each, giving up two total hits. The offense was led by Kellen Williamson, Kole Ficken and Kendrick Delima, with three hits each. Williamson drove in a game-high three runs

Game 2 Individual Leaders
Conner Darnell earned the win going 3.2 innings allowing no runs on two hits. Justin Randle recorded three hits, while Brad Prebay and Dalton Bealmer added two hits each. Randle drove in a game-high three RBIs.

The Cougars will compete in the AMC baseball tournament and will await their opponent. The Cougars are the No. 1-seed, and their first game is on Wednesday, May 5 at 10:00 a.m.
