Baseball Claims First AMC Baseball Tournament Title

O'Fallon, Mo. – For the first time in program history, the Columbia College baseball team has been crowned champions of the American Midwest Conference Baseball Tournament. 

The Cougars are 36-9 on the season.

The Scoring
B1 – 
Kenny Piper hit a solo home run. (CC 1, MBU 0)
T2 – 
The Spartans hit a two-run home run (CC 1, MBU 2)
B2 – 
Justin Randle hit a solo home run on an 0-2 count. (CC 2, MBU 2)
T3 – 
An RBI single scored another run for the Spartans (CC 2, MBU 3)
B3 – 
Braden Desonia scored on a balk, and Dalton Bealmer scored on an error. (CC 4, MBU 3)
B4 – 
Kendrick Delima sent a 1-2 pitch over the right-field wall. (CC 5, MBU 3)
B6 – 
The Cougars scored five times in the inning, with three coming in on a three-run single from Brad Prebay and two scored on a home run from Dalton Bealmer. (CC 10, MBU 3)

Logan Stewart scored on an error. David Dell picked up an RBI single and scored on an RBI triple from Kenny Piper. Prebay hit a walk-off single down the right-field line. (CC 14, MBU 4)

Individual Leaders
Mark Haire went 5.1 innings on the mound, allowing three earned runs and striking out five to earn the win. Josiah Imhoff pitched 1.2 innings giving up one earned run and striking out two. Kenny Piper had a game-high three hits. Piper, Dalton Bealmer and Braden Desonia scored two runs each, while Prebay drove in a game-high four runs.

Up Next: 
The Cougars have earned the league's automatic bid to the National Association of Intercollegiate (NAIA) Baseball National Championship Opening Round, which occurs at campus sites across the country. The Opening Round takes place May 17-20.
