Kenny Piper became the second Columbia College baseball player selected in the Major League Baseball (MLB) draft when his name was called in the 18th round, joining Andrew Warner (40th round, 1,203 pick in 2018).
Piper was selected with the 551st pick of the draft by the Tampa Bay Rays.Â
During his career at CC, Piper hit .462 with 229 hits in 632 at-bats. Of those 229 hits, 107 went for extra bases - 56 doubles, 39 home runs, and 12 triples. In addition, he drove in 181 runs, scored 157 times, and stole 24 bases. Defensively, he threw out 61.4-percent of base stealers , allowing just 29 stolen bases in 78 attempts. He finished his career with a .962 fielding percentage with 815 putouts and 223 assists.Â
