Men's Basketball Edges Out William Woods for Sixth-Straight Win

Columbia, Mo. – The Columbia College men's basketball ran its current win streak to six after knocking off American Midwest Conference (AMC) rival William Woods University inside a sold-out Southwell Complex on Saturday afternoon. 
 
The Cougars (14-10; 8-2 AMC) defeated the Owls (12-11; 6-3 AMC), 63-62.
 
Columbia started strong as a 3-pointer from Trendon Tisdale with 17:50 left in the first half gave the Cougars an early 7-2 advantage. The Owls would battle back and take their first lead of the game, 11-10, with just under 15 minutes remaining. The Owls would not trail again until the 2:11 mark of the opening half when a Chima Oduocha layup gave the Cougars a 26-24 lead. Tisdale would drain another triple with 34 seconds left, and Columbia led 31-29 at the break. 
 
The Cougar lead would swell to nine (47-38) after another Oduocha jumper with 14:41 remaining in the second half. The Owls would again battle back and regain the lead at 53-52 with 7:15 left. The following six minutes saw the Cougars take a six-point advantage (63-57). The Owls would end the game on a 5-0 run to close within one point (63-62) as the game-winner rimmed out as time expired. 
 
Key Moment:
With William Woods leading, 57-55, with 3:18 left in regulation, the Cougars went on an 8-0 run, highlighted by back-to-back Tony Burks triples, to regain the lead, 63-57.

41-34 – Columbia held an advantage in rebounds.

20-10 – The Owls bench outscored the Cougar bench.
