Columbia, Mo. - The No. 16-ranked Columbia College volleyball team played host to the No. 12-ranked Spartans of Missouri Baptist University in the Championship Match of the American Midwest Conference Tournament today. After dropping the first two sets, the Cougars saved match-point and rallied to take the third set before dropping the fourth and final set (21-25, 20-25, 26-24, 22-25).
The Cougars (26-10) now look to the NAIA National Tournament. As winners of the AMC regular season, Columbia has earned a bid to the opening round of the National Tournament; they will find out their opening round matchup on Monday during the NAIA Selection Show.Â
Allana Capella tied the match-high in kills with 16, while
Abby Massengill hit a match-high .455% on 12 kills. Coming off the bench,
Sude Gundogan contributed nine kills.
Luisa Ferreira had a match-high 47 assists to go along with 11 digs.
Magdalena Bostal finished with a team-high 15 digs.Â
