Hattiesburg, Miss. - The No. 11-ranked Columbia College women's soccer team battled No. 5-ranked and 2021 NCAA Runner-up William Carey University till the end but fell 7-6 in penalty kicks after the teams finished in a 0-0 double overtime tie Saturday in the NAIA Second Round.
William Carey has a 16-2-2 overall record, while Columbia had its school record 16-game win streak snapped and ended its season with a 17-3-2 record. William Carey advances to the NAIA National Championship final site, which set for Nov. 29-Dec. 5 in Orange Beach, Ala.

William Carey dominated the first half of play outshooting the Cougars 9-0, but neither team found the back of the net. Columbia goalkeeper
Victoria Heus had four saves.
Columbia got its first shot of the game following a corner kick in the 64th minute after a header from Schneider was saved by Marlen Kelm. The Cougars gained the momentum and registered two more shots but the scored remained tied.
William Carey outshot Columbia 26-3 and had a 4-3 advantage in corner kicks.
Heus made a career-high saves and picked up her 11th career shutout.
