Cougars Beat Patriots, Finish Weekend 2-0

Columbia, Mo. - The Columbia College men's basketball team wrapped up play today in the Hampton Inn Thanksgiving Classic as they hosted the Patriots of Baptist Bible College. Looking to carry their momentum over from their win last night, the Cougars had big contributions from Collin Parker and Trendon Tisdale as Columbia played to an 89-79 win, improving their record to 7-3.

The Cougars took an early lead over the Patriots and never looked back, as Columbia's lead at its highest was 17.

Through the first half, the Cougars looked to their bench for good contributions as Brock Davis and Cole Gerken had eight and six points, respectively.

At the half, Trendon Tisdale had a team-high 11 points to go along with three assists while Collin Parker followed with nine as Columbia lead 45-33.

The Cougars extended their lead in the second half as a three-pointer from Collin Parker gave Columbia a 22-point lead.

The Patriots started to chip away at the deficit as they cut Columbia's lead to 10 with just under three and a half minutes left to play.

Made free throws from Brock Davis and a layup from Trendon Tisdale put the Cougars up 85-71 with two minutes left in the second half.

The Patriots stepped up their defensive effort as time expired and pressed to bring themselves back into the game.

It would be too late as Columbia claimed the win.

Collin Parker had a team-high 22 points and Trendon Tisdale followed closely with 18 of his own.

Marlon Allen contributed a game-high 13 rebounds. Brock Davis finished with 14 points as he went 6-6 from the field.
