Volleyball Ends Season in the NAIA National Tournament Quarterfinals

Sioux City, Iowa - The No. 16-ranked Columbia College volleyball team saw its season end tonight as they fell to the No.2-ranked Jimmies of Jamestown University. Columbia finishes the season at 29-11 overall, while Jamestown improves to 35-2 and moves in the semifinals.

The Cougars faced a tough Jimmies squad that has made an appearance in the NAIA National Tournament Semifinals the last three years, with this year marking the fourth.

After falling in the first set, the Cougars upped their energy and effort and looked to make the remainder of the match more competitive. The second set went the way of the Jimmies, but the Cougars would have their best performance of the match in the second set. Columbia led in the third set 14-10, but the Jimmies fought back and took an 18-16 lead, forcing a timeout from CC. As the Cougars trailed 17-18, the Jimmies used a seven-point scoring run to take the third and final set of the match.

Allana Capella finished with eight kills, while Ellie Rockers (7) and Sude Gundogan (6) followed closely. Luisa Ferreira had 23 assists and a team-high 12 digs.

Magdalena Bostal picked up 11 digs.
