Dubbert Scores Career-High in Win Over UHSP

Columbia, Mo. – The Columbia College women's basketball secured a top-two seed in the upcoming American Midwest Conference (AMC) postseason tournament with a 77-69 win over Health Sciences & Pharmacy (Mo.) on Tuesday night. 
 
The Cougars have clinched a top-two seed in the upcoming AMC postseason tournament with the win.  
 
Columbia improves to 21-6 overall and 14-2 in the AMC. The Eutectics drop to 18-10 and 10-6.

Columbia started the game on an 11-0 run, with the help of three three-pointers, two from Abby Backes and one from Mackenzie Dubbert. The Cougar lead reached 12 a couple of times, including at the 4:46 mark after another three-pointer from Dubbert. The Euts would climb back within six (21-15) at the end of one period. 
 
The Cougar lead would extend back to double figures (30-20) with 5:26 left in the first half. As time expired, Mallory Shetley made a layup to give the Cougars their largest lead of the first half at 46-26 at the intermission. Dubbert scored 18 points in the first half, including draining four shots from distance. 
 
Another triple from Dubbert gave Columbia a 51-26 advantage with 8:11 remaining in the third before UHSP started chipping away. The Cougars led by 13 (58-45) heading into the final frame. 
 
UHSP climbed within four points after a pair of free throws from the NAIA leading scorer, Grace Beyer, with 3:55 remaining. The two teams would trade points over the next couple of minutes before Columbia scored four quick points to seal the win. 
 
Key Moment:
After the Euts cut the Cougar lead down to four points (65-61), Columbia responded with four-straight points to extend the lead back to eight. 
 
By the Numbers:
6 – Mackenzie Dubbert drained six three-point field goals. 
40 – Columbia led for all 40 minutes of the game.
