Cougars Swept by (RV) MidAmerica Nazarene

Columbia, Mo. – Playing in their home opener, the No. 21-ranked Columbia College softball team was swept by (RV) MidAmerica Nazarene.

Game 1: (RV) MidAmerica Nazarene def. (21) Columbia, 13-2 (5 innings)
The Scoring:
  • T3 (MNU): The Pioneers scored six runs, with three coming in on a three-run home run. (CC 0, MNU 6)
  • T4 (MNU): A second three-run homer added to the lead (CC 0, MNU 9)
  • T5 (MNU): A third three-run home run, plus a two-run double gave MNU a double-digit lead. (CC 0, MNU 13)
  • B5 (CC): Emily King ended the shutout with a two-run home run to left (CC 2, MNU 13)
 
Individual Leaders:
  • Taylor Barnes led the Cougars with two hits, including a double.
  • Barnes added a stolen base.
  • Emily King drove in both Cougar runs.

  • T1 (MNU): MidAmerica Nazarene saw three runners cross the plate in the first inning (CC 0, MNU 3).
  • B1 (CC): Taylor Barnes led off the bottom half with a home run. Athena Wheeler followed with a two-run home run and Karolina Arbova drilled a solo home run over the left field fence (CC 4, MBU 3).
  • T2 (MNU): The Pioneers tied the game on a sac fly. (CC 4, MNU 4)
  • B3 (CC): Columbia added two runs, both on solo homers from Wheeler and Avgustina Arbova (CC 6, MNU 4).
  • T4 (MNU): MNU scored five times, thanks to three RBI doubles (CC 6, MBU 9)
