Springfield, Mo. – The Columbia College baseball team won two games on Saturday and completed the four-game series sweep over Evangel.
The Cougars are now 11-3 on the season, while Evangel falls to 8-6.

The Scoring:
- T2 (CC) – Andrew Paten drilled a 3-run home run (CC 3, EU 0)
- T3 (CC) – Tom McKenna and Devyn Lopez had RBI singles (CC 5, EU 0)
- B6 (EU) – An RBI single accounted for the lone Valor run (CC 5, EU 1)
Individual Leaders:
- Six different players had a hit for Columbia.
- Andrew Paten drove in a game high three runs.
- Five different players scored a run for the Cougars.
- Bryce Taylor earned win No. 1 on the season after going 5.2 innings on the mound allowing just one earned run and striking out five.
Game 4: Columbia def. Evangel, 8-4
The Scoring:
- B1 (EU) – A double play resulted in one run for the Valor (CC 0, EU 1)
- B3 (EU) – The Valor added to their lead with a run on a double (CC 0, EU 2)
- T4 (CC) – Tegan Woods hit a sac fly scoring Myles Jasper (CC 1, EU 2)
- T5 (CC) – Columbia scored six times in the fifth, highlighted by two run scoring doubles from Kole Ficken and Riley Poulton. (CC 7, EU 2)
- B5 (EU) – Evangel answered with a run on a single in the fifth (CC 7, EU 3)
- T6 (CC) – Jarrett Newell worked a bases loaded walk (CC 8, CC 3)
- B7 (EU) – A fielder's choice capped off the scoring (CC 8, EU 4)
Individual Leaders:
- Braden DeSonia, Kole Ficken, and Riley Poulton had two hits each.
- Seven different players had an RBI for Columbia.
- Jake Deakins was credited with the win after pitching 4.2 innings, allowing three earned runs and striking out three.
