Columbia, Mo. - In their first match back at home in almost two weeks, the Columbia College men's soccer team (2-2-2) fell to the #12 Lancers of Grace College (5-0-3).
Making his first career start,
William Reese made three big saves in the first 11-minutes of the game to keep the score level.
Both teams traded offensive efforts the entire match, but a build-up play by the Lancers saw a ball crossed-in that was bicycle kicked in by Martim Sequeira, giving Grace a 1-0 lead late in the second-half.Â
Columbia picked up their play and had 13 team shots in the second-half, with
Nick Brandt leading the way at five.Â
In the final moments of the game, four Cougar shots challenged the Lancers goalkeeper, but none made their way past the two-time defending NAIA National Defender of the Week.Â
The Cougars continue their non-conference play when they travel to Siloam Springs, Arkansas to take on John Brown University.Â
