Big Second Half Pushes Cougars Past Eagles

Walnut Ridge, Arkansas - Columbia College Men's Basketball traveled to Williams Baptist University tonight to take on the Eagles in American Midwest Conference action. Trailing after the first half, the Cougars outscored the Eagles by 11 in the second half to take the 79-72 win, improving to 16-5 overall. With an 8-1 conference record, the Cougars sit in sole possession of first place in the AMC standings. 

The Cougars were effective from the foul line as they went 22-27. Even more effective, Columbia shot 57% from the field. 

Tony Burks led the scoring effort with 29 points and seven rebounds. Collin Parker was one rebound shy of a double-double as he finished with 16 points and nine rebounds. Marlon Allen contributed eight points to go along with seven rebounds, and Brock Davis added nine points of his own. 

The race for the AMC title continues as Columbia plays five of its seven remaining matches at home. They have a week off before they return to action next Thursday when they host Lyon College for Faculty Appreciation Night.
