Columbia, Mo. - Columbia College Men's Basketball welcomed the Owls of William Woods University to Southwell Complex today in an American Midwest Conference contest. Both teams played a physical contest that saw multiple tied scores in the first-half, but the Cougars hit their stride in the second-half and would roll to a 78-58 win over the Owls. With the win, Columbia improves to 12-5 overall and 4-1 in the AMC.
The first-half saw the Owls shoot 44% while Columbia trailed at 43%, but it was the free throw line that helped the Cougars maintain their lead as they went 13-14 from the charity stripe.
The Cougars cruised through the second-half as they outscored the Owls 36-20.
Tony Burks scored 13-points in the second-half, while six other Cougars found the basket as well.
Four Cougars ended in double-digits led by
Tony Burks with 19 points;
Trendon Tisdale (14),
Cole Gerken (12), and
Brock Davis (10) all followed.
Marlon Allen had a team-high five rebounds.
Columbia plays three times next week with their next contest being a road matchup at Harris-Stowe State University on Tuesday in St. Louis, Mo.
