Columbia's Season Ends in PKs, NAIA Round of 16

WICHITA, Kan. - The (RV) Columbia College men's soccer team took on No. 7 Oklahoma Wesleyan in the NAIA Round of 16, falling in penalty kicks, 5-4. After regulation, the Cougars and the Eagles were tied at 2-2, leading to double overtime.

Columbia finishes the season with a 13-4-5 overall record and a conference record of 5-1-1.

In the second half of action, Luke Hynes secured the first goal of the match, assisted by Carter Redford in the 51st minute.

Just over a minute later, Miguel Gonzalez crossed the ball to Nathan Durdle, who headed it into the back of the net, extending the Columbia lead, 2-0.

The Eagles got on the board in the 60th minute of action, while they produced their final regulation goal in the 85th minute, bringing the contest to 2-2.

Despite the Cougars early 2-0 advantage, the Eagles notched two of their own, extending thematch into double overtime.

No goals were recorded in either overtime period, which resulted in penalty kicks.

Oklahoma Wesleyan outshot Columbia 27-18 and had a 13-3 advantage in corner kicks.

Alejandro Molto Munoz collected nine saves in 110 minutes of action.

NOTES: Columbia leads the all-time series 4-3... This was the first double overtime game between the two squads in their seven matchups... This is Columbia's eighth-consecutive NAIA National Tournament appearance.
