Cougars Run Away With 39 Point Victory Over Mustangs

COLUMBIA, Mo. - The (RV) Columbia College women's basketball team earned their second American Midwest Conference (AMC) win of the season this evening against Central Baptist (Ark.), 90-51.
 
With the win, Columbia improves to 7-2 on the season and 2-0 in conference action.
 
A slow opening quarter turned around quickly with back-to-back three-pointers from Allison Stiers, giving Columbia a seven-point advantage, 19-12. Midway through the second period, DeLaney Horstman put up a successful three-point play to lead the Cougars on a 13-0 run.
 
Columbia shot 50 percent (14-28) from the field in the first half, while Central Baptist shot 32 percent (8-25). 
 
Columbia opened the third period with a 10-0 run, notching two break away layups to secure a 51-21 advantage. The Cougars produced an astounding 35 points, holding the Mustangs to 10 points in the third quarter. With 1:26 remaining in the period, Mallory Shetley secured a jumper, giving Columbia their largest lead of the game, 74-26.
 
The Cougars ran away with a 90-51 victory, gaining 40 points off turnovers.
 
Columbia returns to action on Dec. 2 as they host Williams Baptist (Ark.) at 1:00 p.m.
