Parker's Career Night Not Enough in OT Loss

Ottawa, Kan. – Collin Parker tied his career-high with 27 points but it was not enough as the Columbia College men's basketball team suffered an 86-79 overtime loss at Ottawa University Saturday at Wilson Fieldhouse in Ottawa, Kan.
 
Collin Parker canned a wing three with two seconds left to send the game to overtime as Columbia outscored Ottawa 35-25 in the second half.
 
Ottawa snapped a two-game losing streak and improved to 7-5, while Columbia fell to 8-4 with the loss. The Cougars are 1-3 in road games this season.
 
Trever Moore added 11 points for the Cougars, who shot 37.7 percent (29-77) and hit 13-of-40 three-pointers in the defeats.
 
Columbia trailed 7-2 in the opening two minutes of the game, but hit three-straight three-pointers to gain its first lead at 11-9. Collin Parker hit back-to-back threes to extend the lead to 19-13 as the Cougars hit their first five shots from beyond the arc.
 
Trever Moore drained a three and converted an old-fashioned three-point play to make it 31-25 with 10:43 left before half, but Ottawa went on a 10-0 run to regain the 35-31 lead.
 
Ottawa scored the final six points of the first half and led 48-38 after shooting 54.5 percent (18-33) from the field. Collins Parker led Columbia with 11 points, while Moore added nine as the Cougars drained 8-of-16 from three-point range.
 
Ottawa increased its lead to 56-44 after a three by Deondre Buggage, but the Cougars got back into the contest with a 10-0 run that cut the Ottawa lead to two at 56-54. Hafer canned his second three of the half with 10:11 left to give the Cougars a 59-58 lead.
 
Trendon Tisdale's three extended the lead to 68-64, but a 5-0 by the Braves gave them a 69-68 lead with 3:26 to play. Buggage hit a 15-foot jumper with 23 seconds to extend the lead to three (73-70).
 
The Braves scored the first four points of overtime, but a bucket by Isaiah Holden trimmed the lead to two (79-77) with 2:24 to play. Ottawa outscored Columbia 13-6 in the extra frame.
 
Jayden Hibbitt had a game-high 30 points for Ottawa, while Buggage (29 points) and Angok Anyang (14 points, 15 rebounds) also scored in double figures. The Braves outrebounded the Cougars 46-41 and hit 14-of-16 from the free-throw line in the win.
 
The Cougars have 14 days off before hosting Webster University on Saturday, Dec. 30 at 3 p.m.
 
NOTES: Columbia and Ottawa have split two all-time meetings ... Collin Parker reached 20 points for the seventh time this season ... This marked the first overtime game this season for the Cougars ... Columbia outscored Ottawa 27-7 in bench points.
