Columbia, Mo. - The Columbia College men's basketball team hosted the Scots of Lyon College tonight in the quarterfinals of the American Midwest Conference tournament. After taking a 44-33 lead at halftime, the Cougars continued to roll in the game as they would play to a 90-66 win. With the win, the Cougars improved their record to 21-8 overall, while Lyon ends the season at 9-16.
Columbia shot a blazing 53% from beyond the arc, while their defense held the Scots to only four made three-pointers. On offense, the Cougars distributed the ball well and handed out 17 assists.Â
Four different players finished in double-digits for Columbia, led by
Marlon Allen as he finished with 21 points, shooting 8-9 from the field, to go along with 16 rebounds.
Tony Burks followed with 18 points and five rebounds.Â
Carson Parker added 10 points and six rebounds, while
Cole Gerken also had 10 points.
Collin Parker played well, finishing with nine points and eight rebounds. AMC All-Freshman team member
Brock Davis chipped in seven points and six rebounds.
Trendon Tisdale had a team-high four assists with seven points.Â
Columbia will face William Woods in the AMC semifinals this Saturday, February 25th, inside Southwell Complex. Game time is set for 1:00PM.Â
