Columbia, Mo. - The Columbia College softball team played their first home games this season today as they played host to the Vikings of Missouri Valley College for two games. Game one took an extra inning that saw Athena Wheeler score on a wild pitch for CC to claim the 2-1 win, but game two saw the Cougars' late comeback attempt fall short as they dropped a close 3-4 decision.

• Ella Schouten picked up her fifth win of the season as she finished with nine K's, only allowing one earned run through 8.0 innings pitched
• Abigail Pringer hit a double as she went 3/4 at the plate

• Emily King collected nine putouts, Athena Wheeler followed with seven and Bailey Merritt had five
• CC out-hit Missouri Valley 9-7

• Bailey Merritt went 3/4, including an RBI
• Emily King also finished with an RBI
• Athena Wheeler registered six putouts, while Sophia Angel, Emily King, and Bailey Merritt all finished with three, respectively

Columbia is back in action next week when they travel to NCAA D-II Quincy University for a double header on Tuesday, March 21st, starting at 1:00PM.
