Columbia, Mo. – The American Midwest Conference (AMC) has announced the 2023 AMC Softball All-Conference teams, season award winners, Academic All-Conference team, and the AMC Softball Champions of Character Team. Columbia earned one season award, while placing three players on First Team and three on Second Team.
Ella Schouten was named as AMC co-Pitcher of the Year for her dominance on the mound all season. This is her second time winning the conference pitcher of the year award as she also picked up the award in her freshman season last year.
Suzanna Shanks was named to the Champions of Character Team. Each AMC school selects a member of their team to receive the NAIA Champions of Character Award. It is the student-athlete who they feel best exemplifies the NAIA 's five core values of integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship, and servant leadership.
First Team All-Conference:
- Emily King - hit .385 on the season with 40 hits, slugging percentage of .683, finished regular season with seven doubles, three triples, six home runs, and 21 RBI
- Abigail Pringer - hit .381 and slugged .664%, collected 32 hits with eight doubles, six triples, and four home runs, 26 RBI
- Ella Schouten - finished the season with a 12-5 record while amassing 173 strike outs, ERA of 1.10, IP of 108.1, only gave up 74 hits, recorded 16 complete-games
Second Team All-Conference:
- Sophia Angel - averaged .323% at the plate, had 31 hits with five doubles and 16 RBI
- Jazlin Gottman - finished the regular season with a 7-2 record, including one save, had 70 strike outs through 57 IP, also hit .302% with 13 hits
- Athena Wheeler - collected 30 hits on a .313 average, had seven doubles and nine home runs, slugging .667%, had a fielding percentage of .986%
